Actually they had long hair so take the sides pull them to the back and part it down the middle and let it flow, don't straighten it or anything just let it go like they did.

Okay, when I turn 18 or 19 I want to join the Marine Corps., and try as I may I cannot find any information (pictures, good tutorials/directions, etc.) on how to put long hair up in a military style bun. I would prefer the one that looks like a donut on the back of the head, but any other information is fine. Thank you very much, and if possible, could you find pictures to show how it's done? :-)

Some last thoughts, if this helps any...

My hair is naturally wavy and thick, so it's easy to get it to do stuff, but it's all the way at the bottom of my shoulder blades. I'd prefer not to have to cut it.

Take a clean sock, cut the toe out and roll it into a donut. Put your hair up into a ponytail and pull your hair through the sock. Spread the hair around the sock and use gel or hair spray to keep the hair in place. Make sure you don't have any elastics showing and stay away from hair pins.

I went to Marine Corps boot camp. They're very very strict on what you can put in your hair and it has to be perfect or they'll make you take it out and do it all over until you get it right. Just pray you don't get into November Company. They're real perfectionists on appearance. Hope for Papa, or even Oscar. Oh, and whatever you do DO NOT swat at the sand fleas, if you kill one they will make you feel like an idiot and bury it in a grave. Never scratch at anything, they're not lying when they say it can become very infected and you'll have to get it cut out. Make sure you're in good shape before you leave, you don't want to get stuck in FRP.

hi as a salon owner and a stylist, I have never ever believed that ladies over a certain age should have short hair, however as yours is fairly short I would suggest an inverted bob which will make your hair look thicker layers would also help, as you have not posted a picture its hard to say, but from what you have said i would propose a layered or inverted bob, this style is very very popular at the moment

If that's the hairdo that Victoria Beckham wears, then it's okay. The best hairstyle for anyone is the one that fits your face, lifestyle, and uses your hair texture to advantage.

I like curly hairstyles personally because my hair is so curly and after trying to fight its natural cure when I was younger, I've just decided to let be curly and work with it, not against it! LOL

If your hair is long, I would say big curls like Beyonce. If your hair is short, I would say tight curls. I personally have long hair.

I use foam rollers and my hair is ';done'; for 2 days:

I put my hair in the foam rollers when it is damp. I sleep in them. The next morning, my hair is in tight curls. I put my hair in a high pony and it looks like what I call the high school cheerleader pony. The curls and nice and tight and they are perfectly curled. Since my hair is long some of the curls droop so I keep them in place with bobby pins It looks nice and you would never know my hair was so long.

I don't wash my hair this day.

I let my hair loose the next night when I sleep. When I wake up my curls are loose and I just let my hair down. This is when I have the Beyonce curls. Big and my body is full of hair.

To get the long curls that all the celebs are wearing, try this:

Take a 1-inch or 1 1/2-inch barrel curling iron and curl all of your hair, but the trick is to leave the last inch or so of your hair (at the end) out of the curling iron. When you're done curling, loosen the curls with your fingers and hairspray. :)

The second link is the nicest haircut, but it really depends on the structure of your face, density of your hair, and coloring of your hair and face - - too short with light hair and a light complection and it won't be flattering, too dark and thin and your hair may look emmaciated...take a picture of yourself that is size proportionate and cut out the hair cuts and lay them over your face - and compare that way!Guys, Do you like these short hairstyles for women? i'm not a guy but the guys i know like hair that is medium length. so that's basically like boob length.

if you want it short i suggest getting a longer short cut like the first picture you showed, not the 2nd ones. also check out the inverted bob, it has such a lovely angle to it. and the great thing about the inverted bob is you can pick any length (as long as it's not super long cause that looks horrible)

the back will end at around the end of the neck and then you can pick where you want the longest strand to end. the stylist will cut it so it goes on an angle to meet where you want it. the longest i think you could go would be a tiny bit underneath the shoulders, never go too long.

Civil War hairstyles for women?

I know what the Civil War hairstyle is supposed to look for women and how you're supposed to fix it, but for the life of me, I can't get it right.

I part my hair down the middle. Twist it at the sides. Pinned some hair rats underneath (at the sides), put my hair over the rats, and then put my hair in my bun. However, my hair keeps slipping down at the sides and you can see the rat underneath.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

My hair is not quite that long but when I want to wear it up this is how I do it.

1. Section your hair into 5 sections, 1 on the top, 1 on each side, 1 on the lower section of hair in the back and the last section goes into a ponytail at the upper part of the back.

2. This depends upon where you wear your rat, but I wear mine in the lower back part of my hair and this creates a Gibson look, poufy in the back. Tease it first. Pin it down with bobby pins.

3. I then tease and roll the top section backwards with your fingers to create a poufy looking top section, not flat.

4. I then do basically the same with each side and pin it down with bobby pins

5. You then will have only the ponytail to work with and you can do it in curls, a beehive or any style that appeals to you.

You might think this is a lot of work and it is, however, it will stay put for several days without having to be restyled. By sectioning your hair it is much easier to work with. With each step it will stay up better if the section is rolled in the direction you want and pinned down tightly. By the way, why do you want your hair styled like this, I do mine this way because our church does not believe women should but their hair based upon the 11th chapter of 1 Corinthians as the apostle Paul taught. No. First off, hair needs to be one length and the longer part in the front is past your chin, which means it would have to be pulled back. Next the military does not allow ';faddish'; cuts, so the graduated style would be out. I would just get a cute, basic bob...there are many styles out there that will meet military standards.

Since you hair has to be above the lower edge of your collar, you have two choices. You can cut it, or put it up. Layers are a problem, because it's hard to keep them neat and to ';secure'; (tuck in) the ends.

Best advice, if your hair is very layered, and if you don't want to cut it, is to part it off-center in the front, and gather each front section (from the part to right in front of your ears) and clip it up, either with bobby pins or clips. That serves the purpose of getting it out of your face and still enabling you to wear your headgear appropriately. Then, repeat the process all the way back just as if you were making a French braid. When you get to the back, use a covered elastice (NOT a ';scrunchy';) to make a low ponytail, tuck the ends under and secure them with a couple more bobby pins.

Yes, this requires several bobby pins and yes, it's time-consuming. But you need to look need and you need to be in regs. When your hair grows out you can braid it...or you always have the option of a cute, easy, short haircut that with your wavy hair would probably be gorgeous.What are some hairstyles for women in the military?
Your hair has to be up. It can not come past the bottom fo you collar when you wear your uniform. You can try a french braid or even putting it in a semi-high ponytail. ...you don't have to cut it, how about pin curls, just curl the hair and after you curl each section, pin it with a bobby pin, or you can curl it really pretty like how Anna Nicole Smith wore hers in several curly, pretty, oldish looks...you can even try to do those twists things the omen did where it looked like 2 rolls on their heads, 1 to the left and 1 to the right with curls coming out the back...Christina Aguilera even wears her hair in those pretty, oldish curls...just google to see some styles you like and implement to accommodate your length...50's hairstyles for women w/ long blond hair?

Back in middleschool I had to wear a 50's hairstyle for a talent show, and the girls in my group decided to lather my head with mousse and put my hair into a high ponytail. I don't recommend the mousse (it's a pain to brush out afterwards),but the ponytail was very ';Patty Simcox';. (Think ';Grease';.)
You could tease it up into a beehive, takes lots of hairspray and bobby pins.

Most women (including me) can't pull off long hair after 50. I am and have been a licensed cosmetologist for more than 15 years (I got a late start..second career...lol). Most all of my customers over 45 have short to medium length styles. I would suggest that you make an appointment with a professional stylist for a free consultation about what styles would look best on you. Hair texture, whether it's straight or curly, and face shape all are factors to consider when choosing a hair style. Hope this has helped.

This all depends on your face shape. If you don't know it, ask a hairdresser. Ask a few, they might have different ideas. Your ideal hair cut has a LOT to do with your face and body shape. And remember - if you see a cute cut on a girl in a movie, she likely has people fluffing and perfecting that hair every 5 minutes. That being said, I'm slightly overweight, with a heart shaped face. I have straight hair that has a lot of body. My hair is happiest in a short layered cut, and finger styled. The ends are razored and texturized, and with a little gel or mousse it takes about 4 minutes to style. I have short sideburns that curl into my face, and wispy bangs. And the great thing about short hair is that it's forgiving - you can color it and highlight it to whatever funky extremes you want, and short hairstyles can take this, because they need trimmed every 3 weeks or so. Go to a hairdresser who specializes in short cuts. If she knows you and your lifestyle, she will hook you up nicely.

The best places I've found are magazines. Take a look through InStyle, Essence, any fitness magazine. I think that hair styles in hair books just don't work for everyday. Find a celebrity style you like, make a file of a few and discuss with your hairdresser. I like the women's styles on Girlfriends. They are always going through variations of a theme with their hair. Just make sure you and your stylist are together on a look and what your lifestyle demands are before you begin.

Great question. So many fashion hairstyles scream 15-22 years old. I am just starting to age out of a lot of these styles.

I actually take a cue from business magazines. The advertisements are aimed at a more established age bracket so they usually have a more sofisticated style.

Also check out the Trish and Trinny books. ';What not to wear'; and ';Trish and Trinny take on America';. The models in the books show lots of styles that real women can wear.

Overall my feelings for over 45 hair:

No longer than collarbone length. Any longer looks like an aging hippy, and can look desperate for youth so it creates the oppocite impression.

Work with your natural texture. If you have straight hair don't try to curl it everyday. Working against your natural texture can look overly ';done'; which also gives the impression of trying to hard.

If your hair is straight, wear it straight. Style it with a flat iron to give a polished look to the ends and add shape/swing to fine hair. Reese Withspoon is a great example of perfect flat ironing for shape. The trick is to hold the hair out straight from your head. NOT pulling it down like Posh Spice. Don't be shy to add some waves for a night out. The flat iron can do magic with a few twists of the wrist!

Watch out for hair color. Don't go more than 2 shades lighter or darker than your hair color in college. If you are signifigantly grey consider some highlights to blend them in, vs. a flat color to kill them dead.

Bangs are a must on mature faces, they cover a multitude of aging signs on the upper face. Look at Goldie Hawn's hair. Never pulled back harshly showing the hairline/ Forehead area. She is almost 60 and looks like she is in her 40's because of strategic bangs.

If you don't know what to try, keep an eye out for a women with similar hair texture to yours that has a great cut/style. Ask her who cuts her hair and go see that stylist.

A really well cut bob should offer you a lot of different options. It's short enough to work with business attire but you still have enough hair left to curl or pin up for dressier occasions.
