Civil War hairstyles for women?

I know what the Civil War hairstyle is supposed to look for women and how you're supposed to fix it, but for the life of me, I can't get it right.

I part my hair down the middle. Twist it at the sides. Pinned some hair rats underneath (at the sides), put my hair over the rats, and then put my hair in my bun. However, my hair keeps slipping down at the sides and you can see the rat underneath.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

By the way, my hair is long enough for me to sit on it, so it can be a little difficult to manage.Civil War hairstyles for women?

Actually they had long hair so take the sides pull them to the back and part it down the middle and let it flow, don't straighten it or anything just let it go like they did.
I found a site which may be helpful to you:

Use HAIRSPRAY to tighten it up.

perhaps for the first time you wear your hair in civil war style you should go to te hairdressers, and watch how they do it so you'll be able to do it by yourself next time.

Hope it turns out beautiful :)

Military Hairstyles for women?

Okay, when I turn 18 or 19 I want to join the Marine Corps., and try as I may I cannot find any information (pictures, good tutorials/directions, etc.) on how to put long hair up in a military style bun. I would prefer the one that looks like a donut on the back of the head, but any other information is fine. Thank you very much, and if possible, could you find pictures to show how it's done? :-)

Some last thoughts, if this helps any...

My hair is naturally wavy and thick, so it's easy to get it to do stuff, but it's all the way at the bottom of my shoulder blades. I'd prefer not to have to cut it.

Thanks again in advance, and yes, someone will be chosen for best answer.Military Hairstyles for women?
Take a clean sock, cut the toe out and roll it into a donut. Put your hair up into a ponytail and pull your hair through the sock. Spread the hair around the sock and use gel or hair spray to keep the hair in place. Make sure you don't have any elastics showing and stay away from hair pins.

I went to Marine Corps boot camp. They're very very strict on what you can put in your hair and it has to be perfect or they'll make you take it out and do it all over until you get it right. Just pray you don't get into November Company. They're real perfectionists on appearance. Hope for Papa, or even Oscar. Oh, and whatever you do DO NOT swat at the sand fleas, if you kill one they will make you feel like an idiot and bury it in a grave. Never scratch at anything, they're not lying when they say it can become very infected and you'll have to get it cut out. Make sure you're in good shape before you leave, you don't want to get stuck in FRP.

Here's a link to a video that will show you how to do a sock bun what I said is unclear.

Best Hairstyle for Woman in her 50s,?

With short thinning hair, recently just dyed dark brown, hair is short up to chin, Face is more round with a large nose, if that helps,

What hairstyle would be best, would be great if you could post a pictureBest Hairstyle for Woman in her 50s,?
hi as a salon owner and a stylist, I have never ever believed that ladies over a certain age should have short hair, however as yours is fairly short I would suggest an inverted bob which will make your hair look thicker layers would also help, as you have not posted a picture its hard to say, but from what you have said i would propose a layered or inverted bob, this style is very very popular at the moment

anyway hope that helps you outBest Hairstyle for Woman in her 50s,?
A layered look will flattter, soft feathering to frame your face will reduce the roundness.

Longer layers on the top to enable you to get root lift, volume and draw attention away from your nose.

Your stylist should cut a short graduated layer

I would avoid short hair, and long hair with layers. I like to see round faces with long hair that is one length. Maybe get some highlights for a change.
